TRAINING
COURSE IN PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Notes for completing the application:
1. Attached are:
(a) An application form; (b)
Reference form.
2.
Application
is for the training course starting in October 2009.
3. Applicants
must be at least 28 years old.
4. Please
print/send the attached reference form to your two referees, who should be
asked to return the completed forms to the
Administrative Assistant at AGIP as soon as possible. It is the applicant's responsibility to
ensure that the forms are returned.
5. Return
the typed completed application plus copies of academic and professional
certificates etc. to office@agip.org.uk

General
information for applicants:
1. Once
an application has been received, the procedure usually includes the following stages:
consideration of your written application by
our Training Committee: two individual
interviews with members of AGIP.
Please
note: if the Training Committee decide not to interview you at this time, £15
will be retained for administrative costs and a cheque for £80 will be sent to
you. The Training Committee will give you some indication of why your
application has not been taken forward to the interview stage.
2. The fees for 2009/2010 will not be less than £1,800 per
annum. Training fees do not include fees for individual
therapy.
3. In
accepting the offer of a training place, a non-refundable deposit of £250 must
accompany the letter of acceptance of a place.
This will be deducted from the first year’s fees.
4. Applicants
are usually expected to have been in psychoanalytically orientated
psychotherapy for at least one year prior to the commencement of the course. All previous
psychoanalytic
therapy will be taken into consideration.
5. Trainees
are required to attend personal individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy twice weekly throughout the entire
duration of their training until qualification.
In addition, a significant period of therapy at more than twice a week
is expected at some time during the course of the training prior to
qualification.
6. Applicants
and trainees must ensure that their psychotherapist is recognised by AGIP as a
training psychoanalytic psychotherapist.
A therapist who is not already recognised will be asked to apply to AGIP
for ratification as soon as the applicant has been accepted to do the
training. AGIP has established criteria
for the recognition of training therapists.
7. Applicants
who are in personal therapy with a practitioner who does not fulfil our
criteria for a Training Therapist can arrange a consultation to discuss the
situation and if necessary receive help in changing to a new therapist.
